Nigel storms the hill at the President's cup

Sun City - President's Cup - Stableford

This week was the last major of the year, The President Cup, sponsored by the President himself Dave Ovel. It was played at a course favourite, Sun City Country Club. It was also the last round to put a score towards the Masters Jacket (MJ ), The MJ is considered the 3rd highest club award behind the Gross and Handicap Club Championship awards. The course was in great condition and there was not a kangaroo in sight. In years gone by there was more of them than people. Best of the bunch was Nigel with 40 points, a great consistent round, followed by two more consistent players week in and out, Steve Hooper 36 and Jack Wagner on 34.

There were no novelties handed out this week due a technical hitch with the last group on tee box 1. Unknown to them (as they didn’t read the email) the club was teeing off on separate 9s . So they picked up the markers on the first 9 prior to 3 groups coming through. Unfortunately for me, part of the problem and apparently completely to blame I was on 3 pins on the back nine not affected by the first 9 stuff ups. Mostly likely this will end up with a 4th dip stick nomination.

Thanks to Rob for running a raffle to raise some funds for the EOY dinner. The raffle is for a significant prize worth around $100. Further to that there was no food, again to save some money as much of the clubs funds went on subsiding ‘The Cut’ and ‘Meadow Springs’
