The Players Club made their way south to the picturesque Meadow Springs Golf Course, where perfect conditions set the stage for an exciting round of golf. A large field of 31 competitors gathered to vie for the prestigious Founders Cup.
The event was made possible thanks to the generous sponsorship of Ryan Nottle, who supported the day, and Heiny, who added an extra thrill by sponsoring $200 for the par 3 challenge.
Highlights of the Day:
Hammo’s Consistency: Hammo continued his impressive streak, making the podium for the third consecutive week by finishing in 3rd place. However, his usually reliable putter seemed to falter at crucial moments.
Mitch’s Strong Start: Mitch had a fantastic start, scoring 19 points on the front nine. Despite his strong performance, he might want to take putting lessons from his dad, who was exceptional with the flat stick.
Dave Ovel’s Triumph: The day belonged to Dave Ovel, who emerged victorious on a countback with 35 points. Dave also claimed the cash prize for nearest to the pin and excelled in the putting competition. Rumor has it that Dave is considering donating some of his prize money to establish a “Dave Ovel” trophy at the South West Open.
Nigel had a day to forget picking up the NAGA, unusual given his form for the year. While there was no match play this round, anticipation is building for next week as Hammo and Lui have built up the courage to face off, with the winner eventually challenging Mr. Jones.
The Founders Cup at Meadow Springs was a day filled with camaraderie, competition, and memorable moments, showcasing the talent and sportsmanship of the Players Club.
